Apple's pro-grade earbuds are getting a proper upgrade.

Announced alongside the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, the new AirPods Pro 3 tout a refreshed design, improved noise cancellation, more battery life and new features like heart-rate tracking.

Although the overall aesthetic is a natural evolution of the clean white look that previous AirPods have offered, the AirPods Pro 3 distinguish themselves with a smaller form factor that offers greater in-ear stability. The earbuds also come with five different ear-tips to choose from, plus IP57 sweat and dust resistance.

On the inside, the AirPods 3 Pro tout an adaptive equaliser, new multiport acoustic architecture designed to deliver superior spatial audio, and new ultra-low noise microphones that enable the earbuds to remove twice as much unwanted noise as their predecessors.

Despite the slimmer form factor, the AirPods Pro 3 also offer improvements when it comes to battery life. Where the last generation AirPods Pro offered about six hours of playback per charge, the latest one bumps that figure up to eight hours.

In addition to these improvements, the AirPods Pro 3 come with several new features. The first of these is support for heart-rate and workout tracking, which is supported by integration with Apple's Workout Buddy virtual fitness coach. The other big new feature here is support for Live Translation, which uses Apple Intelligence to offer language translation in real-time, akin to what you can find in the latest Samsung and Google smartphones.

The Apple AirPods Pro 3 are available to preorder from today and will go on sale on 19 September 2025. In Australia, the earbuds will retail for $429.
