Australia's best mobile plan with unlimited data is getting an upgrade this week, with Felix doubling the speed limit for its flagship offering.

Priced at $40 per month, the Felix's Unlimited Mobile Plan is powered by the Vodafone 4G and 5G network and will let you download as much as you want every month. The only catch used to be that your speeds would be capped at 20Mbps.

Going forward, Felix customers can now expect to get as much as 40Mbps out of their mobile connection. That's a huge improvement that puts this plan close to NBN 50 territory in terms of speed.

If you want to go even faster, that's where Felix's other plans come in. These plans don't have an unlimited data allowance in the same way that the more expensive option does. However, in addition to being cheaper, these plans offer speeds of up to 150Mbps.

You can find all of Felix's mobile plans in the widget below.

What's more, Felix Mobile is slashing the cost of its unlimited mobile plans for the first three months by 50%. This promotion only applied to new customers but it does cover all three of the provider's plans. All you have to do is remember to use the code FELIX50 when you sign up.

Once the honeymoon ends, you'll be paying the regular price. Fortunately, there's no lock-in so you can always shop around and look for a cheaper option.

Expert Advice
"The whole felix network will benefit from these speed changes. Not only will users feel the shift in their downloads, but there will be a marked difference in the mobile spectrum available for other users."

"40Mbps is still slow compared to other telcos in the market, but the shift shows a commitment to bettering the user experience, and it makes for a more compelling offer. Especially in a market that thrives on yearly price increases, it is a refreshing pitch."

Although these changes do make Felix's unlimited mobile data plan a better deal, it's not the only game in town when it comes to unlimited data. Dodo, Belong, Aussie Broadband, Telstra, Vodafone and Optus all offer a similar perk on their mobile plans. This is sometimes called endless or excess-charge free data.

If you sign up for a plan with this perk through any of the above providers, you'll stay connected to the network when you run out of data. However, when that happens, your connection will be throttled to a slower speed until the end of your billing cycle.
