The quick read

Aldi's robot vacuum will cost $279, down form $349 last year, making it the cheapest robot vacuum the supermarket has stocked.

We reviewed it last year so check out how it stacked up against our testing.

Wandering down the middle aisle of Aldi on September 6th, you'll find the Ecovacs Deebot Neo 2.0 Robot Vacuum Cleaner, at a new low price of $279. Earlier this year the Deebot Neo 2.0 was $349, and now the same model is cheaper again. It is also older, but if you're looking for a bargain it is worth checking out.

Despite being quite an old model, you can still buy the Neo 2.0 for $699, with a self-emptying base station. To bring the price down Aldi has ditched the base station, but the vacuum and its smarts remain the same.

All in all the vacuum is getting on in years, and while it isn't close to a top-of-the-line device, the $279 price tag makes it a solid choice for anyone looking to dip their toes into home robotics. When we reviewed the Deebot Neo 2.0 Plus last year, we found that it had a couple of quirks that made it a bit underwhelming at a (then) $1000 tag price, but at the new price it is worth braving the lines - even without the base station.

This model has simultaneous mopping and vacuuming functions, along with a 5,000pa suction power which is more than enough for your day-to-day debris. It has a simple mopping function, and will avoid carpet when the mop pad is connected and enabled. In testing it did a great job keeping carpets dry, but the mopping itself is a bit below what you can get from the best robot vacuum cleaners these days.

Connected through the Ecovacs Home app, the Neo 2.0 has home mapping, and customised cleaning schedules. These schedules allow you to toggle suction power, and water usage room-by-room, and can even work with smart home devices like Alexa and Google Nest.

As with all Aldi Special Buys, stock is limited. If you're keen on the latest robot vacuum then you'll want to get there nice and early on Saturday, September 6th.
