Best NBN 500 plan
NBN 500 is only available to households with an HFC or FTTP connection. It replaced NBN 100 for these premises, which is why you might not see that option after you pop your address into a prospective provider's website. But it's also generally the exact same price as you'd pay for NBN 100 from the same provider, so it's all good news. There can be quite a bit of variation in upload performance between providers at this speed, so it's definitely worth factoring that into your comparisons.
Best NBN 100 plan
NBN 100 is the fastest speed tier available to homes with an FTTN, FTTB or FTTC connection. While not ideal, 100Mbps downloads are still enough to get most households by comfortably, even if you have multiple 4K video streams running concurrently. Most NBN 100 plans have a maximum upload limit of 20Mbps, but there are a handful with 40Mbps for a higher monthly bill. Best NBN 50 plan
NBN 50 is the most popular speed tier in Australia, though it's not as good value as it once was. These plans are often similarly priced to NBN 100 and even NBN 500 plans, but with half or even 10x slower speeds, respectively. But hey, if you don't need those faster speeds, why pay even a few dollars more per month than you need to?
