Nothing isn’t bringing out a new flagship in 2026, but its latest budget-friendly offerings don’t leave much on the table.

The Nothing Phone 4a is pitched as the brand’s most ambitious and competitive mid-ranger to date. It features a revised version of the design seen in last year’s Nothing Phone 3a, as well as a reworked camera system.

The Nothing Phone 4a is built around a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 440 pixels-per-inch and 4500 nits of peak brightness. It comes in four colours and has IP64 water resistance. Then, on the inside, the new device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, up to 12GB of RAM, a 5080mAh battery and up to 256GB of on-board storage.

Nothing say that the new device will ship with 3 years of OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates. That isn't half-bad but well short of what some of the boutique brand's competitors are offering nowadays.

The one other weak link here is the charging. Although the Nothing Phone 4a does come with faster 50W fast charging, the absence of any sort of wireless charging may stand out to some.

If those specs and the sharp looks haven’t won you over, Nothing is likely hoping that the camera configuration will do the trick. On the front, the Nothing Phone 4a features a 32MP selfie camera. Then, on the back, the device boasts a triple lens setup that combines 50MP telephoto 50MP main camera and 8MP ultrawide lens.

Nothing are billing the Phone 4a as the only device with a periscope camera in its weight class, but that hardware is only half the story. The company are also introducing a new XDR image processing pipeline that promises to product crisper results similar to that of the iPhone or Google’s Pixel devices.

In Australia, the Nothing Phone 4a starts at $649.

Meanwhile, for more hardcore Nothing fans, the Nothing Phone 4a Pro promises to up the ante. It isn’t quite a new flagship for the brand, but there’s enough happening with it that it may as well be.

The most obvious thing to note is that the Phone 4a Pro is a radical departure from the brand’s usual playbook when it comes to looks. It’s the slimmest device that Nothing has released to date at 7.95mm, with a slick metal unibody and a reimagined take on the Nothing Phone 3’s glyph matrix.

On the back, it’s got the same set of lenses as the Phone 4a but ups the ante with a superior Sony image sensor that promises to help it achieve faster focus and better low-light performance.

The Nothing Phone 4a also features a larger 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with thinner bezels, a higher refresh rate, peak brightness and resolution. Under the hood, it’s powered by the more capable Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. On the outside, it’s protected by a higher IP65-rating for dust and splash resistance.

In Australia, the Nothing Phone 4a Pro starts at $949.
