\\ Why you can trust Reviews.org Australia

At Reviews.org Australia, we take telco plans very seriously, as does our sister site, WhistleOut.com.au. Our team updates plans from around 30 internet providers daily to make sure you get up-to-date and reliable information, all in one spot. We compare standard pricing, deals, plan inclusions, speed, and more, regardless of whether we have a commercial relationship with a given provider – because we're committed to helping you find a plan you'll love.

NBN 100 is the most popular form of fixed-line internet in Australia and it's easy to see why. The asking price is a lot more approachable than the likes of NBN 250 and NBN 1000, but the performance is still  fast enough for the average household.

So which NBN 100 plans are the best? The answer depends on your needs, but we've saved you some trouble with this round-up of the NBN 100 plans from various providers, comparing your options by value, price and performance.

Best NBN 100 plan

Dodo nbn100 Unlimited Plan

Our pick this month for the best NBN 100 plan in Australia comes from Dodo. Priced at a competitive $72.99 per month (plus a $20/mth discount for the first 12 months), the Dodo nbn100 Unlimited Plan offers 100Mbps in self-reported typical evening download speeds and 17Mbps in upload speeds.

For $72.99 per month for the first 12 months and $92.99 per month thereafter, the combination or price and speeds here is well worth taking a punt on. After all, Dodo has no lock-in contracts, so it's a low-risk trial and you can swap to another provider before the deal is done if you want to grab another intro discount from elsewhere.

Plan details

  • Discounted Price: $72.99 per month
  • Ongoing Price: $92.99 per month
  • Cost for the first year: $878.88  over the first 12 months
  • Ongoing yearly cost: $1115.88 per year thereafter

How we choose the best NBN 100 plans

We track the prices and typical evening speeds attached to NBN 100 plans from among the over 30 internet providers in our database. When it comes time to make our monthly pick for the best NBN 100 plans, we favour plans with the lowest price, unlimited data, no contract, and a minimum of 100Mbps for typical evening download speeds. NBN 100/40 plans don't tend to take top spot in this ranking, but we've given them their own section below.

Our comparison of the best 100Mbps NBN plans also highlights introductory deals because changing providers regularly is the surest way to save money on your monthly NBN bill, thanks to a lack of contracts and the prevalence of intro discounts.

It's worth nothing the cost of plans tend to change every July, which can make longer term predictions less reliable. Even so, we still include annual pricing in our comparisons because hopping between providers a couple of times per year isn't everyone's cup of tea.

For a snapshot of how our current pick for the best NBN 100 plans compares to the most popular NBN plans in our database, check out the widget below.

Cheap NBN 100 plans

Usually, the main things you lose by signing up to a cheap NBN 100 plan over a more-expensive one are extra perks or a robust customer support service. The speed performance difference between a cheap and premium NBN 100 plan usually comes down to upload speeds, though even here it's a matter of 3Mbps at most for the standard NBN 100/20 plans. And if uploads are important enough that 3Mbps matters to you, consider paying a bit more for an NBN 100/40 plan with double the max uploads.

As for pricing, most NBN 100 providers will offer your first handful of months at a discount before bumping you up to the regular price. If you stick with the same provider for too long, you might end up paying for it. But contracts are few and far between, so you can change often to keep the savings rolling in.

Lastly, it's good to investigate what kind of bundles, discounts and NBN modems each provider offers. Some NBN providers offer strictly BYO (Bring-Your-Own) modem plans, while others supply one for a once-off fee. But a select few will allow you to bundle a modem (or mobile phone) with your NBN plan, allowing you to pay your hardware costs over a set period of time.

❌ Not the cheapest provider of NBN 100 plans overall

The cheapest NBN 100 plan in our database right now is the Tangerine Speedy NBN plan. It offers 100Mbps in self-reported typical evening download speeds and 17Mbps in upload speeds.

New customers can also save $25 per month for the first six months if they sign up before1 March 2026. That discount knocks the intro price down to $63.90 per month for the first six months. After that, you're looking at 88.90 per month.

Cheapest long term pricing

While jumping between intro discounts will save you money, that might not be what you're after. If you're keen to set, forget and save some money, opting for an NBN 100 plan with cheaper standard pricing might make more sense than one with intro discounts that expire after a few months. Below, we've compared plans based on their total cost over the first 12 months after signing up.

Plan details

  • Discounted Price: $69 per month
  • Ongoing Price: $83.90 per month
  • Cost for the first year: $887.52  over the first 12 months

Holiday sales might mean Dodo has the edge on promo pricing but Flip is still our pick for cheapest NBN 100 plan when it comes to long-term pricing.

New customers get $14.90 off for the first 8 months, after which the ongoing price is $83.90. The telco also reports good typical evening speeds – 100Mbps downloads and 17Mbps up, the latter of which is only 3Mbps below the maximum for this plan. There's also no contract or set up fee, so you can easily change providers if it doesn't end up being for you.

Tangerine SpeedyPlus NBN

Those who work from home, make regular use of cloud storage, use video conferencing, or spend a lot of time playing games online may chafe on the 20Mbps upload speeds offered by regular NBN 100 plans.
