Many carriers offer the new iPhone 17 Pro on a plan.

No matter which telco you go with, you'll get to choose between a 24-month plan or a 36-month plan. A 36-month plan will always be cheaper, but it means you're paying your phone off over a longer period of time. A 24-month plan is more expensive, but you'll own your Apple iPhone 17 Pro quicker.

Apple iPhone 17 Pro features

iPhone 17 Pro

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are essentially the same phone, separated by display size (6.3 inches vs 6.7). This year, the biggest improvement is probably the telephoto lenses, but there's also a bold new look and the usual performance enhancements.

iPhone 17 Pro tech specs

  • Display:  6.3-inches Super XDR OLED
  • 120Hz:  Yes
  • Charging: USB-C
  • Processor:  Apple A19 Pro
  • Storage:  256GB/512GB/1TB
  • Rear camera:  48MP wide + 48MP ultrawide + 48MP telephoto
  • Front camera:  18MP wide
  • Water and dust resistance:  IP68
  • MagSafe: Yes

What's new with the Apple iPhone 17 Pro?

  • An upgraded rear camera: The back of the iPhone 17 Pro features a new redesigned camera bump that incorporates an upgraded 48MP telephoto lens.
  • A new processor: As usual, this year's iPhone 17 Pro come with fresh shiny new silicon in the form of the A19 Pro processor.
  • Support for faster wireless charging: The iPhone 17 Pro supports faster wireless charging of up to 30W via MagSafe.

Screen size and resolution

While the standard iPhone 17 has a few improvements over its predecessor, the differences between this year's iPhone 17 Pro and last year's iPhone 16 Pro are a bit more slight. Like the latter, the new device comes with a 6.3-inch Super XDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. That screen also comes with Ceramic Shield 2, which is said to offer three times as much protection as its predecessor, plus a new anti-reflective coating.

If you'd prefer a larger screen, that's where the iPhone 17 Pro Max comes in. This device is built around a 6.9-inch Super XDR OLED screen clocked at 120Hz.

Processor, RAM, storage, battery life

Those who keep score already likely know what's going on under the hood with the iPhone 17 Pro. This year's pint-sized and pro-grade iPhone comes equipped with Apple's new A19 Pro processor. That's the same silicon found in the Pro Max and the new iPhone Air.

As usual, the device comes in several different configurations. The cheapest ships with  with 256GB while the most expensive tops out at 1TB.

As for battery life and RAM, we'll have to wait until the iPhone 17 Pro is out in the wild. Apple typically doesn't disclose these particular specs so we'll have to wait for a teardown to find out just how this aspect of the device compares.

How will the camera on the Apple iPhone 17 Pro compare?

At a glance, the camera configuration found on the Apple iPhone 17 Pro is likely to be fairly familiar to those who spent any time with the iPhone 16 Pro.

That isn't to say there aren't any hardware tweaks though. Picking up where the 12MP telephoto lens on last year's models left off, the iPhone 17 Pro comes armed with a 48MP telephoto lens that promises to offer up to 8x zoom and an upgraded 18MP "Center Stage" selfie camera.

Will the Apple iPhone 17 Pro have 5G?

Yes, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro comes with 5G connectivity on par with what you can find in the rest of the iPhone lineup. Of course, you'll need to be located in an area with 5G coverage in order to actually make use of this feature. To see where is 5G available, use the coverage map below.

Click the big orange button, and select your desired network provider from the dropdown (e.g. T-Mobile, Verizon, or AT&T). Then, find out if you have 5G coverage in your area by using the (+) and (-) icons in the top-left corner of the map to navigate to your local area.
