How do you sign up for the Visible free trial?
Here’s how to sign up for the Visible free trial.
1. Check your phone’s compatibility.
First, you need to see whether your phone is compatible with Visible services. You can do this by locating your IMEI number (located under Settings on both iPhones and Android) and entering it in Visible's compatibility checker.
If your phone’s not compatible, then your Visible journey ends here. If it is compatible, proceed to the next step.
2. Confirm your phone is unlocked.
Next, your phone has to be unlocked. I don’t mean unlocked in terms of getting past the screensaver (although you have to do that, too). In this case, unlocked means opening your phone up to other carriers.
You can check that your phone is unlocked by looking under Settings. If you can’t figure out where to look, or if you see that your phone’s locked up tight, you can contact your current carrier and ask them to unlock the device.
3. Download the Visible app.
Download the Visible app on your phone. The entire sign-up process happens inside the app.
4. Follow the onscreen prompts
Once you’ve downloaded the app, onscreen prompts will guide you through the account creation and free trial signup process.
5. Activate your eSIM
The app will install an eSIM on your phone, alongside a new, temporary phone number for the trial.
Who is eligible for the Visible free trial?
If you want to sign up for Visible’s free trial, you have to meet a few qualifications.
You must be a new customer
Visible requires you to be a new customer, which means you aren’t currently with Visible and haven’t been for at least 12 months. If you were with Visible recently, you have to wait until those 12 months elapse before you’re eligible for the trial.
You need a compatible, unlocked phone
To use the free trial, you need to “have a phone with eSIM capability that is also compatible with Visible services.”
So if your phone doesn’t have an eSIM, you can’t try Visible. And if it’s otherwise incompatible with Visible, you’re also out of luck.
Your phone also needs to be unlocked. If it’s locked against using other carriers, you need to figure that out before you sign up for the 15-day trial.
You need to be in the U.S.
You must be located in the United States to sign up for Visible’s trial. Sorry, international Visible fans.
What happens when the Visible free trial ends?
When the Visible free trial ends, you have two options. You can either sign up for a paid Visible plan or do nothing whatsoever.
Sign up for a paid plan
At the end of the trial, if you love Visible, you can sign up for a paid Visible plan. You just follow the instructions in the app to upgrade your trial into full service and provide a payment option.
Do nothing
If you don’t want to continue with Visible after your trial, then you don’t have to do anything. The plan won’t auto-renew.
How does a Visible free trial compare to a Mint Mobile free trial?
Mint Mobile has a trial plan similar to Visible’s, but Visible’s trial is a better option.
Visible free trial vs. Mint Mobile free trial
Visible 15-day free trial: With Visible, you download a free eSIM with a temporary phone number. You don’t have to provide your credit card to sign up, and you get unlimited data, talk, and text. When you’re done, you’re done—the service won’t autorenew.
Mint Mobile 7-day free trial: With Mint, you can either download a free eSIM or pay for a $5 physical SIM kit. You have to provide credit card information (although Mint says they won’t charge you), and the plan includes 250 SMS messages, 250 voice minutes, and 250 MB of data. Like with Visible, the service doesn’t automatically renew as a paid plan. You have to purposefully upgrade.
The verdict: Visible’s free trial is a more compelling deal. You get more data and a longer time to test the service, and you don’t have to turn over your credit card details.
