Most flexible plan | $8.00/mo.

  • High-speed data: 2GB
  • 5G access: Yes
  • Hotspot data: Taken from high-speed data cap
  • Talk and text: Unlimited

US Mobile’s By the Gig plan is a pay-as-you-go plan that also can be used as a family cell phone plan. The plan costs $8 for one line and additional lines cost an extra $10 per line.  The plan starts off with 2GB of high-speed data, and then you can top up for $2 per gig.  Unlike most multi-line plans that give each person a set amount of data, the By the Gig plan has shareable data, so the entire data cap is shared among each person on the account.

You get two free network transfers between the three major cellular networks: Dark Star, Light Speed, and Warp–which are actually AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon’s networks.

US Mobile’s Unlimited Starter plan is the best plan for people who want lots of data but at a fraction of the price of a plan with a major carrier. When you choose the Light Speed or Warp networks (T-Mobile or Verizon), you get 70GB of high-speed data and 10GB of hotspot data. To get the most bang for your buck, you can choose the Dark Star network (AT&T) which offers unlimited high-speed data and 20GB of hotspot data. This plan is essentially half the price of the cheapest unlimited plan from T-Mobile, so you definitely get a great deal.

Just like the By the Gig plan, you get two free network transfers.

US Mobile’s Unlimited Premium plan gets oodles of data for only $35 monthly. No matter the network you select, you get unlimited high-speed data, and at least 50GB of hotspot data. Unlike the By the Gig or Unlimited Starter plans, the Unlimited Premium plan includes network transfers, so you can switch as you please. The data is also at a higher priority, so when network towers are congested, you get faster speeds than other US Mobile customers (Light Speed customers all have QCI7 data priority). The plan is definitely more suitable for people who are constantly on their phones, streaming videos or uploading posts.

More US Mobile plans

US Mobile also offers additional plans that might suit you, depending on your needs. Here’s the lowdown:

Unlimited Flex
Starting at $210/yr.

Unlimited Flex is an annual plan, so its monthly cost is equivalent to $17.50. You get 10GB of high-speed data, unlimited talk and text, and 5GB of hotspot data.

Light Plan
Starting at $10.00/mo.

The US Mobile Light Plan costs $10 monthly or $96 for 12 months of service. Just like the By the Gig plan, it includes 2GB of data each month.

Custom Plan
Starting at $4.00/mo.

The Custom Plan allows you to mix and match your data, text, and calling minutes based on your needs.

How much phone data do I actually need?

We recommend getting at least 10GB

If you want to stream videos, listen to music, or answer emails while you’re out and about, getting at least 10GB of high-speed data is enough for most people who also have a regular Wi-Fi connection. That being said, if you want peace of mind to have unlimited data (you know, just in case you end up needing to stream a movie or take Zoom calls on the go), the US Mobile Unlimited Starter plan is your best bet–you get 70GB of high-speed data on the Light Speed network, and unlimited data on the Dark Star and Warp networks.

Here’s how to get the best US Mobile plan deals

Use the following tips to get the best deal for your US Mobile plan:

1
Save up to 38% with an annual plan

An annual Unlimited Premium plan is equivalent to $32.50 monthly, opposed to $35 on a monthly plan.

2
Choose the network that works best in your area.

Light Speed has better coverage in the West, whereas Dark Star and Warp have better coverage everywhere else. The network with the best coverage will provide the best overall experience.

3
Test out the plans, starting from the cheapest one.

US Mobile doesn’t have contracts, so you can start off with the cheapest plan, see if it works for you, and upgrade if you need.
