Spectrum Mobile’s By the Gig plan is a pay as you go plan for someone who is usually connected to Wi-Fi and uses less than 3GB of data. On this plan, you get 5G access, can share data with up to 20 lines, and can mix and match data needs. The plan starts at $20 per month, and for every 1GB after, you only have to pay $5—for reference, Xfinity Mobile charges you a whopping $20 extra for every extra 1GB. Be careful, though: Once a full GB is used, another is automatically added to your account. If you use at least 2 extra GB, then you might as well upgrade to Spectrum’s Unlimited plan as that plan costs $30 per month.

The best part of Spectrum Mobile’s Unlimited plan is that you get an entirely free line for a full year when you first sign up for a qualifying Spectrum Internet plan. That means you’re paying $0 a month for a mobile plan and still have access to 30GB of high-speed data for an entire year, which is stupendous if I may say so myself. However, even without this promo price, the Unlimited plan is only $30 per month and gives you 30GB per line of high-speed data on Verizon’s network; that’s a huge discount compared to the cheapest Verizon unlimited plan, which runs at $65 per month. You get international benefits on this plan as well, including free international texting from the U.S. while abroad, 2,000 monthly minutes per line of calling to Canada and Mexico, and pay-per-use calling to 180+ countries.

For just $10 more per month, Spectrum Mobile’s Unlimited Plus plan has everything the Unlimited plan offers plus a few more valuable features. You get almost double the high-speed data and exactly double the hotspot data. You also get more international benefits like the Global Day Pass to Canada and Mexico baked in as well as the Global Day Pass in over 200 countries (which costs $10 per line per 24 hours on the other two plans). You can also upgrade your phone anytime you want with no up-front costs.

There are no promos to get this Unlimited Plus plan for free (unlike the Unlimited plan). But for the reasonable price of $40 per month, you get a ton of high-speed and hotspot data as well as a few extra goodies. Even this premium Spectrum Mobile line is still $25 cheaper than a line on the cheapest Verizon line.

Think about it: For one year, you can have one Unlimited Mobile line for free (as long as you are a Spectrum Internet customer). Then, you can add Unlimited lines for just $30 per month per additional line and $40 per month per additional line for the Unlimited Plus plan. Keep in mind that family members who use more than 3GB of data per month should go with the Unlimited plans over the By the Gig plan.
