There are two costs to a SimpliSafe system: the one-time, up-front equipment costs, and then the recurring monthly monitoring costs. SimpliSafe equipment starts as low as $200 for a basic starter pack, and the price goes higher based on how much equipment you need. If you have a big house that needs a lot of sensors, then you’ll pay more.
The good news is that even if you need a ton of stuff, SimpliSafe is still a lot more affordable than a system like ADT or Vivint. And unlike ADT and Vivint, you can order SimpliSafe online and add on additional sensors as you need them.

Once you have your equipment, you’ll want to subscribe to a SimpliSafe monitoring plan. This is the service that keeps an eye on your system 24/7 and calls the police for you if someone sets off the alarm.
You can get basic 24/7 professional monitoring with the SimpliSafe Standard plan, which costs $19.99 per month. But we recommend you go with the SimpliSafe Fast Protect plan, which costs $29.99 per month.

The professional monitoring service is the same with either the Standard or the Fast Protect (formerly Interactive) plan, but the Fast Protect plan lets you do extra stuff like control your SimpliSafe system with Alexa or Google and use the SimpliSafe mobile app to arm and disarm your system. SimpliSafe also offers a 10% discount for equipment add-ons and a lifetime warranty to Interactive plan customers.
Plus, if you want to use SimpliSafe security cameras, like the Video Doorbell Pro or the Wired Indoor Camera, then you can view footage in the SimpliSafe app without paying a separate cloud storage fee.
SimpliSafe doesn’t have contracts or hidden fees
No matter which monitoring plan you choose, SimpliSafe never has contracts or cancellation fees. You can opt out of your monitoring plan anytime you want with no penalties.
Just know that without a monitoring plan, your SimpliSafe system is a bit useless. If an intruder trips the alarm, the SimpliSafe base station will set off a loud siren sound, but that’s it. You just have to hope the sound alone scares off whoever’s breaking in.
Recap
SimpliSafe will cost you at least $209.96 upfront and more than that if you need additional sensors or want to upgrade your monitoring plan. Even with more sensors and fancier monitoring, SimpliSafe is still cheaper than a lot of other security systems on the market.
