At $50 a month, the cheapest Verizon Fios Home Internet plan is the Internet 300/300 plan. And Fios makes it affordable for those who need a gigabit connection for less than $90.

But we have the details on how to get $25 off your internet service monthly, and we compare Fios to other internet providers to give you better insight into whether this ISP is the right one for you.

Let’s look at the cheapest Verizon Home Internet plans and see which one has the download speeds your household needs.

Cheapest Verizon Fios Home Internet plans

You can get 300Mbps speeds for $50, but there are more reasons to grab this service.

Verizon Fios offers internet speeds at an average price compared to other providers. But two upsides to Verizon Home Internet make this ISP cheaper than the rest.

Verizon Fios includes your router rental in your monthly payment for the 300Mbps and 500Mbps plan—no need to pay an extra $15–$25 per month for a modem. So it basically feels like your router rental is free since Verizon Fios is already average-priced.

Most internet providers increase your service price after 12 months, but not the almighty Verizon Fios.

For the 300/300 plan, your monthly price is guaranteed for two years. For the 500/500 plan, your price remains the same for three years, and the gigabit plan for four.

And it's a huge bonus that Verizon Home Internet doesn’t require any contract signing. Since Verizon doesn’t specify how much your bill will increase after two to four years, you can always cancel if it becomes too much.

But at this point, we suggest negotiating with a Verizon representative to lower your bill or bumping your internet speeds down to save money.

How much internet speed do I need?

We recommend at least 50Mbps as a minimum download speed, but your household may need more speed if more than three people work from home, stream, or game. Find out how to tell what speed is right for you in our guide to internet speeds.

How do I avoid Verizon Fios installation fees?

If you’d like to avoid the $100 installation fee, you can install your new router yourself if you sign up for Verizon Fios online. But unfortunately, this only applies to the 1Gig Internet plan.

Before you forgo the installation, double-check to see if you’d like to bundle with Verizon Fios TV. You could also set up your set-top box yourself or have the Verizon installers install everything at once.

Verizon Fios Internet deals and discounts

Bundle your Fios internet service with mobile for a sizeable discount

If you pair your internet service with one of Verizon’s 5G mobile plans (which start at $30 per line), you can get your Verizon Internet service for $25 cheaper each month.

So your 300/300Mbps plan will lower from $50 to $35 per month, 500/500 will go down to $45 from $70, and 1Gig will cost only $65. (Those are excellent numbers compared to other fiber internet providers.)

But here’s the catch: Verizon specifies that this discount is available to “existing postpaid mobile customers with an unlimited plan that includes 5G Ultra Wideband.”

So, if you’re already an existing mobile customer, you can get the discount now! If you’re not, become a mobile customer first, and then add the internet onto your service for that nice discount.

Furthermore, when you order the 300/300Mbps or 500/500Mbps plan, you’ll receive a $50 Verizon gift card that can be used toward a new device, accessory, or your bill.

When you order the 1Gig Internet, you can get an Apple Homepod or a $200 Verizon gift card.

(You aren’t eligible for the Apple Homepod until after you’ve been a customer for 65 days, and if you cancel your service within six months, they will charge you $300.)

And you’ll get to choose between the following:

  • A 6-month free Disney+ membership
  • MoCA Ethernet adapter and a $50 Xbox eGift Card

How can I get Verizon Fios to lower my internet bill?

There are a few ways you might be able to get Verizon to lower your internet bill, including the following:

  • Downgrade your internet speed if you can.
  • Call Verizon’s sales department and see if any internet deals are available.
  • Ask to have any unnecessary rental equipment removed—and don’t forget to return it.
  • Combine your Verizon Fios Home Internet plan with a Verizon Wireless unlimited plan and enroll in the Mobile + Home Rewards program for $25 monthly savings.

We’ve also got more tips on saving money on your internet bill.

How does Verizon Fios Internet compare to the competition?

Fios is average priced, but you don’t have to pay for a router rental

Let’s compare the 300Mbps plan for a second. Is there an internet provider cheaper than Verizon Fios? Yes and no.

You can get cable internet for a lower price than Fios fiber, but a fiber-optic connection is faster and more reliable. Frontier Fiber Internet is cheaper, but double-check that it’s available in your area. Like Fios, its availability is limited across the U.S. And don’t forget, you won’t need to pay extra for a router rental with Verizon.

But, if Verizon Fios is unavailable in your area, all these providers are on our top ISP's list.

Comcast Xfinity is number one because it’s widely available across the U.S. and is the most reliable cable internet provider. AT&T Internet offers gig speeds at $10 less per month. Spectrum is available across the U.S., offers fast download speeds for a cable connection, and doesn't require signing a contract. Cox Internet has higher prices but can also be bundled with mobile, TV, and home security.

Which Verizon Fios Home Internet plan has the best value?

We like the price tag on Verizon’s 500Mbps plan.

For fiber internet, the Internet 500/500 plan has the best value at $70 per month for 500Mbps download speeds. This plan is average-priced among all internet service providers, but you don’t need to pay an extra monthly fee for the router rental.

For DSL internet service, you can get up to 1,000Mbps download speeds with the 5G Home Internet Plus package for $70 per month. Use our zip finder below to find out if these plans are available in your area.

You can also get both of these internet services for $45 per month, and here’s how: if you’re already an existing Verizon 5G mobile customer, you can get the discount now. If you’re not, become a mobile customer first, and then add the internet onto your service for that nice discount.

If you need faster fiber speeds, we do like Verizon’s 1Gig Internet plan because it comes with an Apple Homepod or $200 Verizon gift card. You can also choose a free six-month Disney+ membership or MoCA Ethernet adapter and a $50 Xbox eGift Card for gamers.
