It might not surprise you to learn that Norton offers a VPN (virtual private network) client. Most of us know the company as a powerhouse in the security field. There’s good name recognition, but NordVPN is arguably more common as a way to protect and secure your internet connection, swapping your IP address for a different location. In a comparison between the two VPN apps, NordVPN also emerges easily as the more capable and feature-rich of the two options, even if the costs are quite different.

NordVPN vs. Norton Secure VPN: Price

NordVPN can’t compare on price, especially by the month.

Neither option is a free VPN, but you’ll find value in the price. NordVPN costs $4.99 per month when you pay annually. Norton Secure VPN charges $4.99 per month for one device annually. Norton Secure VPN includes an option to pay for one device, five devices, or 10 devices which increases your monthly price.

As you’ll soon discover however, cost is only one factor when you compare features. NordVPN is more expensive but also far more capable in terms of how many servers you can use to connect, the number of countries, the devices available for your connection per account, and even the polished and more useful interface.

Since price is not the only option here, we should mention that NordVPN is worth the extra expense. It stands out as one of the best VPN providers we have ever tested—there’s a reason we rated it at five stars. The interface and app are easy to use and the branding and website are top-notch. There’s a sense that you’re using a VPN that will do exactly what you need it to do, even if it does cost a bit more than the competition.

NordVPN vs. Norton Secure VPN: Number of VPN servers

NordVPN has more VPN servers than just about any other VPN client.

Norton Secure VPN can’t quite keep pace with NordVPN in almost all feature comparisons, starting with the total number of VPN servers. In fact, it’s not even close. NordVPN offers over 5,000+ servers for the VPN connection, so you can likely find one with a fast connection speed that provides the security and anonymity you need. Norton Secure VPN does cost less (at only $7.99 per month) but also offers only about 2,000+ servers for VPN use.

NordVPN vs. Norton Secure VPN: Number of countries

NordVPN is the clear choice for country connections available.

NordVPN has roughly twice as many VPN connections available in other countries—a total of 60 compared to only 31 for Norton Secure VPN. You can almost always find the connection you want to test the speed for a streaming site you like or to bypass some country restrictions—accessing the BBC network, for example, from the US.

NordVPN vs. Norton Secure VPN: Number of devices

Norton Secure VPN offers more devices, but you'll pay extra.

NordVPN offers more devices for a subscription over most other VPN connections. NordVPN offers up to 6 devices. Norton Secure VPN allows you to use up to 10 devices for its subscription, but the monthly and annual plan prices increase by about three dollars a month to add more devices.

NordVPN vs. Norton Secure VPN: Which is better?

NordVPN easily beats out Norton Secure VPN in almost every comparison variable, from servers to countries to devices. It’s not even a close call.

  • Pricing: Norton Secure VPN. A lower-rated VPN but also a lower price point.
  • Number of servers: NordVPN. A higher number of servers make it stand out.
  • Number of countries: NordVPN. Also offers a high number of countries.
  • Number of devices: NordVPN Provides a connection for up to six devices.
