Sometimes Amazon Prime will have a “proxy error” if you try to access content. Even if you’re located in the US, you can still run into this error. Sometimes Amazon can detect if you’re using a VPN, and it won’t let you watch videos. Here are a couple of easy ways you can fix the proxy error while continuing to protect your privacy.

What is a proxy error?
Info Box

A proxy error occurs when a proxy server blocks you from visiting a website.

A proxy server works much like a VPN does. It works as a web filter between you and the internet. It offers privacy and security benefits, and it can restrict a user’s internet access. A proxy server is the reason you can’t access Facebook from your work office.

Use a reliable VPN to fix the Amazon proxy error

In some cases, the proxy error happens because Amazon thinks you are accessing content from outside the country. If you access Amazon Prime Video from outside the US, it violates the terms of service, and your account could be disabled. Do not participate in any illegal activity and always follow the regulations for using Amazon Prime.

Sometimes you’ll receive an Amazon proxy error just because you are using a VPN. This can happen even if you are located in the US and following Amazon’s guidelines. In order to stop the HTTP proxy error from occurring, switch to a VPN that’s more reliable. If the VPN you were using set off the proxy error, then it probably wasn’t a high quality VPN.

There are lots of great VPN options that won’t trigger the Amazon proxy error. For example, any of these VPNs will help you protect your privacy and allow you to watch Amazon Prime with no interruptions: NordVPN, Hotspot Shield, and ExpressVPN are just a few with exceptionally high ratings.

Can I still watch Amazon Prime while I’m traveling?

Yes, if you have an Amazon Prime account, you can watch video content even while traveling abroad. However, when you travel outside your home country, there might be a limited selection of titles available.

In order to find out which movies and TV shows are available to watch while traveling, check the section titled Watch While Abroad to look for your favorite shows.

If the TV show you want to watch while traveling isn’t on the list, Amazon allows you to download it so you can watch it offline. That way, you’ll have your favorite show available,  and you’re following Amazon’s user guidelines.

Amazon allows Prime members to download videos to their phone, tablet, or PC. You have to be the holder of the account in order to download videos. Anyone who has access to videos as part of an Amazon Household is not allowed to download video content. If you’re not the holder of the account, simply stick to watching videos in the Watch While Abroad list.

Will I run into the Amazon proxy error when traveling abroad?

You might see an error if you try watching Amazon prime while traveling. If this happens, make sure to select videos from the Watch While Abroad section. As long as you follow Amazon’s guidelines, you’re totally welcome to watch Prime videos while you travel.

As stated above, sometimes your VPN can cause the proxy error to occur even when you’re following the guidelines for Amazon and your VPN provider. If this happens, switch to a VPN that’s reliable with helpful features for traveling.

If you want to keep a secure connection while vacationing in Germany, then check out CyberGhost, NordVPN, or ExpressVPN. These three VPNs are great for travelers because they have servers in thousands of locations. This means it’s easy to select a country and start watching your favorite shows.

For example, ExpressVPN offers access to over 3,000 servers in 94 countries. The good news? You’ll still be able to protect your privacy and watch Amazon Prime even when you travel.

Your private information is just as easy (if not more so) to steal when traveling to another country. When you travel, you can’t help but use public Wi-Fi. Hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops are all hotspots for hackers. That’s why it’s important to continue using a VPN while you travel.
