For anyone who follows the VPN service market, NordVPN is a trusted and reliable name. It’s well-known in terms of the features available, professional branding and interface, and also because it has a high number of servers available for connecting and securing your online activity.

Curiously, a competitor called IPVanish looks to be a worthy opponent and offers unlimited device connections, a high number of country connections, and a slightly lower price. It’s worth considering.

NordVPN vs. IPVanish: Price

IPVanish is a hair more affordable, but not by much.

In terms of price, IPVanish is an obvious pick. When you evaluate the VPN provider by monthly price alone, it’s about a dollar cheaper. For the annual plan, expect to pay only around a dollar less per month.

As you’ll discover, it’s not quite enough of a benefit to pay a little less for IPVanish, and we rated NordVPN higher overall.

That’s because price and value are so closely tied. NordVPN offers far more servers and a more professional and well-designed product. NordVPN is one of our top picks in a crowded market, and the lower price for IPVanish isn’t quite enough to make it a top pick.

NordVPN vs. IPVanish: Number of VPN servers

NordVPN wins hands-down on the total number of servers.

NordVPN offers over 5,000+ servers. IPVanish has only about 2,000+ servers, which means it is a long distance away from NordVPN by a long shot.

You won’t be able to experiment as much with IPVanish in selecting a server and checking the speed or in finding workarounds for streaming and downloads from other locations.

NordVPN vs. IPVanish: Number of countries

NordVPN loses in a feature comparison in country connections.

NordVPN doesn’t quite measure up to IPVanish in terms of the country connections available. There might be a specific site you like for movies or shows that you’ll need a VPN connection for, or you might need to access files located on a protected server in another country and really need to enhance your security for that location.

With IPVanish, there are more countries available—about 75 countries compared to only 60 for NordVPN.

NordVPN vs. IPVanish: Number of devices

NordVPN can’t compare to the unlimited connections of IPVanish.

NordVPN also doesn’t compare favorably to IPVanish for the number of devices you can use—but then again, neither does any other VPN provider.

IPVanish allows unlimited device connections per account, which increased the value of the product dramatically. Power users who own multiple gadgets like smartphones, tablets, laptops, and gaming consoles will prefer this VPN service because there are no restrictions on how you connect.

NordVPN, on the other hand, caps you at six devices.

Recap: Which is better, NordVPN or IPVanish?

Even with the higher number of country connections and unlimited devices, we still pick NordVPN due to the high number of servers and professional interface.

  • Pricing: IPVanish offers a lower cost plan than NordVPN by a few dollars.
  • Number of servers: NordVPN has a much higher number of servers available.
  • Number of countries: IPVanish lets you connect in over 75 countries.
  • Number of devices: IPVanish offers unlimited device connections per account.
