What’s the Cheapest Xfinity Internet Plan?

For those looking to pay the lowest price without worrying about what download speed they get, the Xfinity Fast plan is the cheapest in the Northeastern US.

Xfinity's promotional price for its 400 Mbps plan is too good to pass up. And those download speeds should more than cover you if you work remotely while your kiddos or partner enjoy some game time or stream Paw Patrol.

We recommend most families start with at least 100 Mbps download speeds, and since all of Xfinity's internet plans tick that box, choosing an internet plan comes down to affordability and upload speed.

But don't forget about the Superfast plan, either. At $60 a month, this Xfinity internet plan offers up to 800 Mbps download speeds. That’s an exceptional deal for those speeds, which are perfect for keeping even a larger family connected while everyone streams Hulu or games on the Xbox (no one wants slow Wi-Fi).

The biggest downside is that your price significantly spikes after the promo period ends. Superfast goes up to $97 a month after three years.

If you want to avoid the price hike after two years, we advise calling Xfinity just before your second year is up to see if the representative can offer you any new deals.

And if you want to save $20–$45 on your internet service, you can bundle with Xfinity Mobile. Who doesn't need mobile service? So, why not get it at a deal and pay one bill? Xfinity’s Connect is clearly the cheapest option in the Central US if you just want to pay the lowest price and don’t care for that much internet speed. But we recommend going for the Connect More plan to get more bang for your buck.

The promo price for the Connect More plan won't ring your budget dry. Plus, the 200 Mbps download speed is excellent for three or four internet users.

Remember that your monthly price goes up to $72 after two years. But never fear—we have some tips on how to lower your Xfinity bill when the time comes. 

The $20 Connect plan is a great option for a smaller household of one or two people. But download speeds of 75 Mbps probably won’t cut it if you need to work from home or share your internet with more than two other people. The more people and devices that use your internet, the more download speed you need.

The Gigabit Extra plan offers the most value on a cost-per-Mbps basis. Its 1,200 Mbps speeds can keep a large family connected and keep your home security system, smart home hubs, and other devices online.

But remember that the Gigabit Extra plan is the most costly one out of all those Xfinity offers in the Central US—and the price goes up to $95 per month in year 3 and $112 in year 4. If you don't need that much download speed, you might be better off grabbing a slower plan at a lower monthly cost.

We recommend going for the Fast internet plan to get a way better experience.

The best cheap Xfinity Internet plan is the $50 Fast plan which offers up to 400 Mbps download speeds. It has great value and enough speed for multiple people in the household to stream video, game, and work from home.

Users in the West can also get Xfinity's Connect More plan for $30 a month for two years, including free Wi-Fi equipment. Xfinity's Connect More deal offers more than double the download speed of the Connect plan for just $5 more a month.

The Connect plan comes with up to 75 Mbps download speeds, fast enough to keep one to two people comfortably streaming and gaming.

We'd point to the Connect More or Fast plans as better deals for most families since you get up to 200 or 400 Mbps download speeds. That's definitely enough to support at least a few people and a handful of devices, all using the Xfinity Wi-Fi plan simultaneously.

One thing to note about Xfinity internet plans is your price goes up after 2–3 years. For example, with Connect More, you'll pay $63 after two years of service. But we have advice on how you can keep your Xfinity bill down.

Comcast Xfinity also has a $10 per month Internet Essentials plan with 50 Mbps download speeds and a $30 Internet Essentials Plus plan with 100 Mbps. You can order these plans if you qualify for the National School Lunch Program, housing assistance, Medicaid, or SNAP. 

Suppose you're an existing Comcast Xfinity customer. In that case, this provider offers a bunch of deals for new customers, and you might be able to negotiate one of those deals even if you're an existing customer. 

We've had the best luck getting a better deal with Comcast by calling a representative. Surprisingly, the first time this happened, we called about a technical issue with our router, and the rep noted that we could switch our plan up a bit to get a better deal.

Ideally, you'll want to call a month or two before your price goes up, and you can request a call from an Xfinity rep through the Xfinity app.

And lastly, when you bundle with Xfinity mobile, you can save $20–$45 on your Xfinity internet service. 

Is Xfinity Internet good?

Xfinity is one of the best-known internet service providers (ISPs) in the US, and despite getting a bit of flak for its lackluster customer service, it provides pretty reliable and fast service.

We've subscribed to Xfinity Internet for several years now and, for the most part, haven't had any trouble with our internet speeds or Xfinity Wi-Fi plans.

On top of that, Xfinity internet prices tend to start out pretty low—and you might get a friendly Xfinity service rep to offer you that promotional price again when your contract is about to expire. (This happened to us once.)

But this internet provider also has some downsides (just like any ISP): the price you pay depends a lot on where you live, making selecting the cheapest plan confusing. Its customer service can make you want to pull your hair out. And Xfinity has a data cap of 1.2 TB—probably not a deal-breaker for most of us, but power users, beware.
