The holidays are all about looking outward, helping those in need, and embracing the good in all of us. But also, on a deeper level, the holidays are about rad toys.
So let’s talk toys.
People say eyes are the windows to the soul, but we both know that’s not quite true. The toys we play with are the windows to the soul—and each state has a favorite. Are you more of a nerf guns state, or a Barbie state? Let’s find out.
#1: The most popular toy in the United States is…
We’ll give you a second to guess. It rhymes with “sour deals.”
Turns out most kids are just wild about Power Wheels. All that road-rage from Mom and Dad hasn’t stopped these kids from wanting their own sets of wheels. Here are all the states full of kids who want to hit the road:
- New Mexico
- South Carolina
- South Dakota
- West Virginia
The main thing that these states have in common is that they don’t have a single Disneyland between them. Maybe the kids are thinking if they can just get some Power Wheels, they can road trip to to the nearest Disney park? If only it was that easy, children. Go and enjoy the natural splendor all around you in these beautiful states.
On the other hand, if the kids are driving now, they can take themselves to soccer practice thank you very much.
#2: It’s Fortnite’s world and we’re just living in it
Have you seen any of your local young people inexplicably dancing lately? Maybe you’ve seen them moving their arms back and forth almost like there’s an invisible floss in their arms? It’s because of Fortnite. (On the plus side, kids are dancing all of a sudden. Which, if we learned anything from Footloose, is a good thing.)
As the ultimate manifestation of their love, these states want Fortnite action figures for the holidays:
Hey, if this video game is teaching the kids of America to be hip dancers, what’s really the downside? Maybe someday, our country will be full of kids as cool as kids in the 80’s.
Fortnite action figures are hitting stores December 1st of this year. You should avoid a Jingle All the Way situation and pick up your kid’s action figure before it’s gone.
#3: Some kids just want to hoop
. . . hula hoop, that is. Since 1958, kids have loved hula hoops and apparently, some things never change. (Unless hula hoops have something to do with Fortnite that we don’t understand. Probably not, right?)
Here are the states full of kids who just enjoy the sweet simplicity of spinning a hula hoop around:
Kudos to those kids who don’t need anything fancy to keep them entertained. Also, parents of those kids can rejoice: Christmas just got a lot easier on your wallet.
Through the magic of Google, we were able to extrapolate this data. More specifically, through Google Trends, we could see the most-searched toys on Google this holiday season. What we Google speaks volumes about what we want to buy. It’s gospel. Some might say Santa uses the same data to inform his gift-giving.
