What Are the Requirements to Rent a U-Haul?
If you want to rent a U-Haul truck, you really just need four things:
- To be 18 years old or older (if you’re 16, you can rent a trailer, but not a truck)
- A driver’s license
- A credit or debit card
- A phone, tablet, or computer with an internet connection
As long as you have those four things covered, you just need to make a reservation and then go pick up your truck.
How do I make a U-Haul reservation?
You can make a U-Haul reservation online or over the phone. We recommend the online reservation process, though—it’s super easy.
Just go to U-Haul’s home page and enter where and when you want to pick up and drop off the truck, and U-Haul will give you a slew of vehicle and insurance options to choose from.
Pick the truck you want from the list, select your pickup and drop-off locations, and then go through the prompts to finish reserving your vehicle.
When do I pay?
You pay when you pick up your vehicle, so you don’t have to enter payment info over the web.
Just so you know, U-Haul’s advertised prices don’t include the price-per-mile fee or other taxes and fees, so make sure to check your final total before you hand over your credit card.
