Optus streaming bundle

Free Netflix with select NBN plans

The Optus NBN $105 Internet Family Entertainer plan (currently discounted to $85 per month for your first six months) gets you a standard Netflix subscription as part of the offer. You can also get Optus Sport for $6.99 per month extra, which is a big discount compared to the full price of $24.99.

In addition, you'll also get the Optus Optus Ultra WiFi modem with 4G backup and an Optus WiFi Booster. Just be aware that if you leave in your first 36 months, you'll be stung with hardware fees. These are equivalent to $13 for each month in your three-year term.

This streaming bundle is configured on the NBN 50 speed tier, but the offer is also available on NBN 100, NBN 250, and NBN 1000 plans. Here is Optus' full range of NBN plans:

In addition to the Netflix bundle above, Optus mobile and internet customers can also bundle additional subscriptions to their monthly bill via the provider's SubHub platform. If you do, you'll save up to 10% on the monsthly cost of those services. The exact amount of savings here varies depending on how many subscriptions you're bundling and which services they're for. Still, if you have a lot of streaming subscriptions, that discount does add up quickly.

At the time of writing, the list of SubHub partners includes the following:

  • Netflix
  • Amazon Prime
  • Binge
  • Paramount+
  • Britbox
  • YouTube Premium
  • Hayu
  • Calm
  • Kindle Unlimited
  • Microsoft 365
  • Masterclass
  • Sweat
  • iWonder
  • iQIYI
  • Inkl news

If you're not ready to ditch your NBN provider and want to set up SubHub via an Optus Mobile plan instead, check out the widget below for a round-up of your options.

Telstra Foxtel Bundles

Save up to $41 on Foxtel

If you're looking to bundle Foxtel with your NBN, Telstra is a simple option.

At time of writing, Telstra customers can get Foxtel plans cheaper than Foxtel itself is selling them in some cases, but not in all.

For example, Foxtel's Platinum Plus package is discounted to $99 per month on Telstra. Meanwhile, Foxtel charges $140 per month on a no lock-in plan, but you can get it for $94 per month on a 12-month contract.

While Telstra's discounts only last for your first year, its Foxtel plans are all lock-in and setup fee free. If you want to leave at any time, you'll simply just need to return your hardware.

Foxtel with Telstra packages

Here's a small selection of the NBN plans that Telstra lets you bundle Foxtel with.

If you're looking to try Foxtel without bundling or the need for any hardware, Foxtel Now subscriptions start at $25 per month. You can also get a 10-day free trial.

Foxtel does offer its own Foxtel Internet plans, that start at $124 per month for an NBN 50 plan with a Foxtel Plus bundle. Plans get even more expensive as you step up in Foxtel tiers. Foxtel NBN plans are bundled with a Foxtel package - you can't get NBN from Foxtel without paying for Foxtel pay TV too. There's also a one-off $140 modem fee.

That being said, Foxtel's NBN 50 plan is $20 per month cheaper than Telstra's. Foxtel does however only offer NBN 50 plans - you'll need to look elsewhere for faster options.

Telstra TV and streaming bundles

Bundle your Binge bill

While the Telstra TV streaming hub is no longer available (with a new Fetch TV-powered follow-up expected to launch sometime in the future), Australia's biggest mobile provider does still let you bundle in a variety of entertainment and streaming subscription services. You won't save any money by bundling with Telstra, but you will have the convenience of having to juggle just one bill rather than multiple. Here's a list of the streaming services that Telstra currently lets you bundle:

  • Disney Plus
  • Binge
  • Kayo
  • Flash
  • Foxtel Now

If the above streaming bundles are of any interest, you'll be thrilled to learn Telstra also has a range of standing offers available to select customers who sign up for one of its mobile plans that can score you a number of freebies.

New Telstra customers who sign up for any of the postpaid or SIM-only plans below get the following:

  • 2x months of Binge
  • 4x months of Spotify Premium
Streaming Services in Australia

The best streaming services in Australia

You know Netflix, but have you heard of the horrors on Shudder?

What’s the best bundle for sports fans?

There isn't one. Get a cheap NBN plan instead.

While Optus used to offer Optus Sport to all customers for free, those days are over. Instead, Optus customers pay $6.99 per month, which is still a discount compared to the $24.99 non-customers pay.

Similarly, all Telstra customers could previously get a discount on Kayo. Now, this is only available to customers with Silver or Gold Telstra Plus status. If you've already got Gold, paying just $12.50 per month for Kayo for your first year is a nice perk, but it's not worth signing up to Telstra for.

As such, we'd just recommend getting a cheap NBN plan, and using the savings to pay for your favourite sports streaming service. There's nothing too exciting happening with sports streaming bundles right now.

If you're willing to swap providers every six months, you can further maximise your savings. Many providers offer discounts to new customers for your first six months, and these plans all tend to be contract free. As such, you can keep jumping from deal to deal to get the best bang for your buck.

Vodafone streaming bundles

You can Pay with Vodafone, but there's not save

Like Optus, Vodafone used to offer more straightforward streaming bundles under a service called Pay with Vodafone. In the past, this service has allowed you to add streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Music Unlimited and Amazon Prime to your internet or mobile bill. However, this list has grown shorter in recent months. According to Vodafone, the only subscription service that's still able to be bundled in via Pay with Vodafone is Norton Antivirus.

That's not nothing, but its roster of original TV series and movies does leave something to be desired.

Best internet providers for Fetch TV packages

Aussie Broadband is the best bet

If you're looking to bundle together a Fetch TV set top box and an internet connection, you've got a few options. Check out the widget below for a quick snapshot of NBN plans available from providers that offer Fetch TV bundles in Australia.

Aussie Broadband Fetch TV bundles

Aussie Broadband is one of the best options for Fetch TV and broadband bundles. At the time of writing, there are four different options available.

  • Casual + Mini: NBN 25 speeds, unlimited data and Fetch Mini set-top box
  • Everyday + Mini: NBN 50 speeds, unlimited data and Fetch Mini set-top box
  • Entertainment: NBN 100 speeds, unlimited data and Fetch Mini set-top box
  • Entertainment + Multiroom: NBN 100 speeds, unlimited data, Fetch Mini and Fetch Mighty set-top box

Optus Fetch TV bundles

Optus used to let you bundle a Fetch Mini or Fetch Mighty set-top box with your Optus broadband plan or get one free through one of the carrier's Entertainment plans but no longer does.

Back when Optus launched their SubHub streaming services management platform, it indicated that Fetch TV would be coming to the service in some capacity. However, this has yet to materialise.

iPrimus Fetch TV bundles

iPrimus Fetch TV bundles are available on Standard Plus, Premium and Superfast NBN plans. Here's a quick look at those plans and what they include:

iiNet Fetch TV

iiNet offers broadband plans that include the option to add on Fetch TV with a Fetch TV Mini set-top box. Bundling a Fetch Mini set-top box won't cost you any more per month but it does come with a $59.99 set-up free while upgrading to the Fetch Mighty 4K will cost you $340 upfront.

You can see the relevant iiNet Fetch TV plans below.

Internode Fetch TV

Like its sibling ISPs, Internode offers NBN internet plans that can be bundled with a Fetch TV Mini 4K or Mighty 4K set-top box. You can find the relevant  plans in the widget below.

One Pass Disney Plus bundle

Can Disney Plus supercharge the Aussie alternative to Amazon Prime?

None of Australia's internet or mobile providers currently offer any bundles that let you save money on the cost of Disney Plus. At the time of writing, there's just one bundle that does and it is available through One Pass.

One Pass is sort of like Amazon Prime but for Australian retailers like K-Mart and Bunnings Warehouse. Signing up for either a monthly or yearly One Pass membership gets you free shipping from select partners and access to exclusive deals.

Those who bundle together a One Pass and Disney Plus membership will save a few bucks on the cost of signing up for the two separately. Rather than pay $17.99 ($4 for One Pass and $13.99 for Disney Plus) per month, you're paying just $14.99 per month.

How to choose the best TV and Internet Bundles

  1. Check your expenses.
  2. Decide which subscriptions you want to keep and cut.
  3. See which internet providers offer bundles for those services.
  4. Double check the terms & conditions.
  5. Sign up.

If you're looking to save money by bundling together your internet package with your streaming subscriptions, the best place to start is by doing an audit of your monthly expenses. This should give you a good sense of where your money is currently going.

Once you've done that, you should be ready to start thinking more about which subscriptions you can ditch and which you'll want to keep. If you've been watching nothing but Netflix for the last three months, then maybe it's time to let that Binge membership lapse.

After you've worked out which subscriptions you want to keep, the next step is to investigate whether any of Australia's internet providers offer savings on those subscription services. If they do, it might be time to start thinking about leaving your current provider and start saving more money each month by bundling.

However, before you do anything, it's always worth reading the fine print and making sure you know exactly what you're getting and are aware of any hardware or leaving fees that may come into effect if you look to switch up your current choice of internet provider.

How we chose the best TV and Internet Bundles

When it came to choosing the best TV and internet bundles and entertainment packages, we tended to preference volume over exclusivity. However, this wasn't the only or most important factor. We also took a look at the quality of service offered by the provider in question and whether or not the internet service that tied together the bundle was itself competitive in the current climate.

TV and Internet Bundles FAQs

So long as you're happy to pay the premium that comes with pay TV in the first place, bundling together services like Foxtel and Fetch with your internet can be a great way to squeeze a little bit of extra savings into your monthly spend.

Unfortunately not. Foxtel is part-owned by Telstra, so naturally there's no chance they would offer Foxtel bundles for the competition.

Telstra TV is a set-top box from Telstra. It can access popular streaming apps such as Netflix, Stan, Binge, and Disney+.

While Telstra Live Pass customers could score their first 12 months of Kayo membership at a reduced rate of $5 per month, this offer is no longer available.

According to the official Kayo website, the redemption window for new Kayo customers closed on August 15, 2022.

Yes. It depends on which streaming services you want to bundle and what you want to bundle them with, but most of Australia's major internet providers tend to offer some form of bundling nowadays.
